Riad El Fenn
Derb Moullay Abdullah Ben Hezzian
Bab el Ksour
Marrakesh Medina, Morocco
While in Marrakesh, we stayed at this beautiful and intimate boutique hotel. We were able to find this gem on instagram and we immediately knew this is where we were going to stay for our time in this magnificent city. We loved it so much that we would look forward to returning to it after hours exploring the markets and the city.
Vanessa Branson’s boutique hotel and spa, Riad El Fenn, is definitely for the eco-chic tourist. It is a restored palatial home with a local and organic restaurant. They try to source their vegetables from the Riad’s own farm. The hotel is fairly small with 28 individually styled rooms and suites, tree-filled courtyards, a roof terrace and a family of resident tortoises. The hotel is very exclusive and each room is decorated beautifully. Moroccan architect Amine Kabbaj combined grandeur and historic architecture with hideaway nooks, terraces and gardens. El Fenn is a place to relax and experience the tranquility of all the beautiful hidden nooks before stepping outside to soak up the atmosphere of a city that has seduced everyone from Yves Saint Laurent to Winston Churchill. You really feel like you are in your own Moroccan palace when you’re there. The hotel is located in a hidden spot near downtown Marrakesh. I would suggest you call the hotel and someone will meet you in town to serve as a guide. If you are planning on visiting the markets, the hotel is just a five-minute walk from the world-famous Djemaa el Fna square and a bustling maze of streets that make up the souk.
